Groundbreaking marks the start of construction on Phase 1 of the One Westside redevelopment, bringing 230 new homes to Chattanooga’s Westside and marking the start of a bold, resident-led transformation of this historic neighborhood.
Housing Plan: In a major step forward for the One Westside transformation, the Chattanooga Housing Authority and the City of Chattanooga have officially broken ground on the first two phases of new housing following a $50 million Choice Neighborhoods Implementation Grant. The first 230 mixed-income units—part of a seven-phase, 1,126-unit housing plan—are under construction now in the Westside Neighborhood. These initial phases will include 92 new replacement units for current College Hill Courts residents. With construction underway and design work advancing on Phases 2A and 2B, One Westside is putting plans into motion to create more housing options and stronger neighborhoods in the heart of Chattanooga.
The Chattanooga Housing Authority (CHA) and the City of Chattanooga were awarded a $50 million Choice Neighborhoods Implementation (CNI) Grant on July 16, 2024. On August 27, 2024, the Master Developer Agreement was executed between CHA and Columbia Residential as the Housing Implementation Entity.
